Directions to Saint-Maurin & Montargen

Approaching Saint Maurin on the D16 from the North (from direction Bourg de Visa):

Approaching Saint Maurin on the D16 from the South (from direction Agen and A62):

Follow the green signs to “Hameau de Fouyssac” just before you enter the village. This will take you behind the village square and just as you start to leave the village there is a T junction. Turn right, also signposted to “Hameau de Fouyssac”. [Go to “From All Directions”]

From All Directions:

You are now on the Rue de Tourelette, and will climb out of the village on a twisting road. After approximately 1km, at the top of the climb, the road forks. Take the left fork signposted “Bugat” (do not take the right fork to “Hameau de Fouyssac”). After approximately 0.5km, at a dip in the road, take a right signposted to “Montargent” and “Philipou”. Drive very slowly past the first house on the left and continue to the end of the road where you will approach the black electric entry gates to the property.

Ferries

Northern ferry ports e.g. Portsmouth-Caen: approximately 6 hours driving time in France using the autoroutes payages (motorways and toll roads). Add an extra 2 hours if driving through the Channel tunnel. Allow €50 each way for tolls. If you do not relish the whole drive in one day, break up the journey with an overnight stay at a chambres d’hote (bed & breakfast) en route. We recommend those in the Alastair Sawday ‘Special Places to Stay’ at http://www.sawdays.co.uk/ or get the guide from bookshops.

Ferry to northern Spain e.g. Portsmouth-Bilbao. The ferry takes one full day and arrives early morning, but he driving time to Saint Maurin from Bilbao is only 4 hours. Take your time and have breakfast in the breathtakingly beautiful Basque port of San Sebastian and lunch in trendy Biarritz, before arriving at Montargen late afternoon.
